Enrollment Checklist for Admits

We’re here to make the enrollment process as easy as possible.

  • We will be holding an Admitted Student Welcome Webinar on Wednesday, February 19th. Register for the Welcome Webinar.
  • We will hold a week of virtual student events the week of March 17th – 21st. More details and registration links coming soon via the Admitted Student Events page.
  • You can also connect with an Admissions Staff Member or a current MPP student by scheduling a one-on-one virtual appointment. On our Admitted Student Events page, you can choose the date/time of your appointment via the calendar tool.

  • We will be hosting two full days of on-campus programming where you can tour our building and meet members of our community. Our on-campus Admitted Student Days are scheduled for March 28th and April 11th. Details and RSVP links will be posted on the Admitted Student Events page soon.
  • We are also offering one-on-one appointments on campus with an admissions staff member. Schedule a meeting via the calendar tool on the Admitted Student Events page (select “Office Hours with an Admissions Representative (in person appointment)” to meet with us on campus.

Admitted students must submit a tuition deposit in order to confirm their plans to enroll at the McCourt School.

Your tuition deposit of $500 is due by the date indicated on your admission letter, and also listed below:

  • Early Action application (you received your acceptance in mid-January)
    • Enrollment deadline: April 15, 2025
  • Priority Deadline application (you received your acceptance in mid-March)
    • Enrollment deadline: April 20, 2025
      • Note, recipients of the McCourt Scholar award, Howard Scholar award, and other fellowship awards may be asked to reply by April 15th irrespective of when the application was submitted.
  • Final Deadline application (you received your acceptance in mid-April)
    • Enrollment deadline: May 1, 2025

Please refer to your admissions letter for specific instructions on how to accept your offer.

  • From February through July, the Office of Global Services (OGS) issues F-1 Form I-20 or J-1 Form DS-2019. Note, you must confirm your enrollment and submit your deposit before OGS will begin processing.
    • OGS will begin processing I-20 or DS-2019 requests on February 3rd for MPM students starting the program in Summer 2025.
    • OGS will begin processing I-20 or DS-2019 requests on March 3rd for MPP, MIDP, MS-DSPP, and MPM students starting their program in Fall 2025.
  • Depending on your circumstances, this document serves for visa application at a U.S. consular mission, (re)admission to the United States, and/or transfer of an active SEVIS record.
  • Communicate only via Georgetown email address & access OGS portal within one week of confirming enrollment.
  • Upload request at earliest opportunity; Georgetown issues immigration documents as quickly as possible and cannot accommodate any appeal for expedited service.
  • OGS does not collect U.S. immigration information from students who plan to hold another status.

Please refer to your admission letter to determine which transcripts you need to submit.

The official transcript must include confirmation and date of degree conferral. A diploma or degree certificate showing degree conferral and degree date can be provided.

All foreign official documents should include an English-language translation from the institution, notarized translator, or by a credential evaluation service when applicable.

To be official, documents must be submitted directly from the institution to Georgetown University through one of the following options:

  • Submitted to Georgetown University in an envelope issued by the institution and sealed by the Registrar or an equivalent office.
  • Submitted to Georgetown University from the institution via a secure electronic delivery, such as Scrip-Safe.

Transcript Policy for Admitted Students

If you are a new enrolling student and are under the age of 26 at the time of registration, you are required by District of Columbia law to provide documentation of vaccination or immunity from Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. The deadline to submit your immunization form is August 1st.

Applicable only for MPP, MS-DSPP, and MIDP Students:
Due to the rigorous quantitative training involved at the McCourt School, incoming students are required to have strong foundations in mathematics, statistics, and economics. Please check the overview of required expectations of incoming students, as well as a list of resources for meeting the necessary prerequisites: Econ Prep, Math Prep, Political Science Prep, MIDP Prep, MS-DSPP Prep.

Pre-Curriculum Preparation

Students may be eligible to waive out of required courses for their programs if they have had similar coursework in the past. Here are the syllabi for the courses from which you may be able to waive. Please review the waiver procedure document below before filling out the waiver exam application. Waiver Request Procedure

Prior to beginning their studies, all incoming McCourt students are required to complete the McCourt Foundations course. Foundations is designed to facilitate the transition to graduate school, introduce incoming students to a set of core leadership and communications skills, and catalyze equity-centered policy work and advocacy.

The dates are as follows:

  • MPM Foundations course + additional welcome sessions
    • Wednesday, June 4- Friday, June 6
  • McCourt Foundations Course (mandatory for all MPP, MIDP, & MS-DSPP)
    • Monday, August 18th- Friday, August 22nd
    • August 25th- August 26th (Additional Orientation Sessions)

We are excited to invite you to join our new WhatsApp community, McCourt Admitted Students 2025. Here, you can meet other admitted students and build friendships by connecting in real time through group messaging. This group will go live in March; the link will be posted closer to this date.

You should be checking your Georgetown email account regularly throughout the summer because all official emails will go to your Georgetown email account. You will receive your username and password in your admission letter.
For Summer 2025 MPM admits:

  • Summer 2025 MPM admits will receive detailed communications from the McCourt Academic Advising Team on registration for Summer classes, before the end of January 2025.
  • Live registration for MPM Summer classes will begin on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 9:00 AM in GU Experience, which is the central location for students, staff and faculty to view course schedules, registration, student account information, request refunds, view and enter grades, and request transcripts.
  • You will begin receiving weekly emails starting in late April/ early May from the McCourt Academic Affairs and Student Engagement Teams.

For Deposited Fall 2025 admits:

  • Fall 2025 deposited students in all programs will receive detailed communications on registration for Fall classes before the end of the first week of May 2025.
  • Live registration for these students will begin on Tuesday, June 3 at 8:00 AM in GU Experience.

We encourage you to follow our McCourt social media sites to learn more about our McCourt community, the student experience, and all the events available to McCourt students.

Deferral requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Deferral of admission is limited to one request per admitted program. Requests must be received before the start of the semester to which you were admitted. Please note that scholarship offers are not automatically carried over to the deferred term. Students whose deferrals are approved will be re-evaluated for scholarship consideration in the next admissions cycle. Students admitted off the waitlist are unfortunately not eligible to defer.
