MPM/MPGPP
Master in Policy Management/Professional Masters in Management and Public Policy Program
The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and the Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EAESP-FGV) have partnered to create an innovative dual degree program that combines Georgetown’s Master in Policy Management (MPM) with FGV’s Professional Masters in Management and Public Policy (MPGPP). This unique program is specifically designed for Brazilian public administration and policy professionals in the early-to-middle stages of their careers who seek to expand their expertise through international study.
The program allows students to begin their studies at FGV in São Paulo, completing foundational courses including Social Policy Analysis; Applied Research Methodology; Public Budgeting and Finance; Contemporary Public Management, Data Evaluation and Analysis; Political Theory, State, and Society; plus three electives. Students then transition to eleven months of full-time study at Georgetown’s McCourt School. This international framework provides participants with a truly interdisciplinary skill set while exposing them to diverse faculty expertise, varied peer perspectives and innovative ideas from both Brazilian and American policy contexts.
The dual degree MPM-MPGPP program prepares graduates primarily for advanced careers in Brazil’s public sector, though many alumni also pursue opportunities in private sector consulting and international organizations where cross-cultural policy expertise is highly valued.
Eligibility is restricted to current students already enrolled in FGV’s MPGPP program. Current MPGPP students need to apply no later than January 15 preceding their intended summer matriculation at Georgetown.
The MPM component of the MPGPP-MPM dual degree requires 27 total credits, composed of nine 3-credit courses or course-equivalents. Six of the courses in the MPM (listed below) are considered core, which means they are required (unless students pass exemption exams and substitute elective courses).
