MPP/MAGES

Master in Public Policy/Master of Arts in German and European Studies

The McCourt School of Public Policy and the BMW Center for German and European Studies (CGES), offer a three-year dual degree program leading to a Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Arts in German and European Studies (MAGES). Students will have the option of spending either their second year, or the spring term of their second year, at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. This unique program allows students to pursue a degree in public policy with a regional specialization in Europe.

Students interested in applying to the MPP/MA in German and European Studies should complete and submit both the MPP and MAGES applications to the respective schools simultaneously. For more information about the MA in German and European Studies, please contact the BMW Center for German and European Studies.

The dual degree consists of 72-credit hours (36 for MPP and 36 for MAGES) and requires three years to complete. Students are also required to pass a mandatory MAGES oral exam as well as satisfy the MAGES language requirements. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in each department (computed separately).

Although there is some flexibility in order to accommodate students’ specific professional and academic goals, students enrolled in the dual MPP/MAGES program typically pursue the following course of study:
