Title: Mock Interview Program Puts Students A Step Ahead

March 2016 — The McCourt School this month held its Alumni Mock Interview Program, sponsored by the Office of Career Development and Alumni Engagement.

The Program provided students with the opportunity to sharpen their interview skills through firsthand practice before McCourt School alumni who offered constructive feedback.

More than 30 students met with alumni at their places of employment in sectors ranging from healthcare to international economic policy to management consulting across the Washington, D.C. area.

“The interview was a fantastic experience; exactly what I needed,” said McCourt student Raymond Alqaisi (MPP ‘17), who met with McCourt School alum Kevin Spicer (MPP ’15). Spicer serves as Communications Director to Congressman Pete Visclosky.

“Kevin pressed me on my weaknesses. His critique was honest, direct and, most importantly, highly constructive,” Alqaisi added. “ Alumni like Kevin are a testament to the strong network of McCourt. This experience is motivating and, without question, will be defining in my success.”

Due to the outpouring of alumni who generously lent their time to the current students, the Office of Career Development and Alumni Engagement plans to organize another mock interview program in the near future.
