March 24 Update
Dear McCourt Community,
You have heard a lot about how McCourt students, academic faculty and staff are responding to COVID-19.
I am excited to highlight some innovative ways McCourt School centers are contributing to our collective COVID-19 efforts:
- More than 600 people tuned in last Thursday as the Institute of Politics and Public Service convened some of the nation’s leading experts on our pandemic response for their first virtual forum event, Leadership During Crisis: Combating the Coronavirus . Since last week, the video has received over 5.6k views (and climbing!) on Facebook, with over 2,000 engagements.
- The Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership has launched a series of articles, Leading in Times of Hyper Change , that will provide strategies and guidance for nonprofit leaders and their organizations during this time of uncertainty. Be sure to check out the new pieces on COVID-19 and the Census and Financial Health and Continuity for Nonprofits .
- The National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health is providing assistance to the National Association of Community Health Centers to develop a COVID-19 resource portal for primary care providers.
- The Center on Health Insurance Reforms is informing policymakers about strategies to reduce gaps in health insurance coverage for testing and treatment of COVID-19. They are providing regular updates on how state officials are addressing this crisis, and are providing technical and policy assistance to state and federal agencies.
- As school systems across the country transition to distance learning, FutureEd conducted a Q&A, the Do’s and Don’ts for Distance Learning During a Pandemic , with Brad Rathgeber, the head of school and chief executive of One Schoolhouse, and created a coronavirus education legislation tracker ( updated daily).
I know a lot of other work– research, education, volunteerism, and fundraising– is underway across our community to contribute to the global effort to combat this virus and its effects. Know of something happening at McCourt? Please email McCourt’s Associate Director of Communications Arica VanBoxtel .
Best,
Dean Maria
