The Doris Duke Distinguished Visiting Fellows Program at the McCourt School provides a flexible and welcoming home to leaders from across the policy world — former elected and appointed officials, high-level staff and other leaders with a wealth of experience and insight. As part of this program, Doris Duke Distinguished Visiting Fellows are invited to engage with the McCourt community and the Doris Duke Foundation leaders and programs. Fellows are invited for periods of one month to a year based on their availability and serve the McCourt School on either a part-time or full-time basis.

About the Doris Duke Foundation

The Doris Duke Foundation’s (DDF) mission is to build a more creative, equitable and sustainable future by investing in artists and the performing arts, environmental conservation, medical research, child well-being and greater mutual understanding among diverse communities.

About the Doris Duke Distinguished Visiting Fellows Program

The continued success and distinction of the McCourt School rely on our ability to attract talented faculty members who can share their expertise with our students, particularly individuals who have worked on policy issues in government, business, nonprofit organizations or other related industries. These faculty members bring a unique blend of substantive expertise and on-the-ground experience to their work educating the next generation of policy leaders, preparing our students to bridge theory and practice in their life outside of the classroom.

The McCourt School seeks to hire several new Distinguished Visiting Fellows to join our faculty and contribute to our community of changemakers. These Distinguished Visiting Fellows will contribute to the McCourt School’s culture and enhance our ability to affect policy. Whether participating in informal dialogues or public lectures, offering a seminar series, lecturing in a course or hosting conversations with policymakers, Distinguished Visiting Fellows will aid the McCourt School as we seek to develop more effective policies and educate future policy leaders.

Visiting Fellows benefit from:

  • Dedicated space and administrative support
  • A vibrant intellectual community with research centers dedicated to critical policy issues, from juvenile justice and health care access to education and workforce development
  • Distinguished faculty, many with deep policy and industry experience
  • Students with a diversity of experiences and perspectives, including dedicated graduate assistants with related interests
