Our Projects
Every year, MPiP harnesses the technical knowledge of the McCourt School to empower two non-profits serving Latin America and the Caribbean communities with evidence-based solutions. Our aim is to uplift these regions by offering complimentary consulting services to these non-profits, aiming to enhance residents’ access to services and overall quality of life. Dive into the dynamic world of MPiP projects, where students and faculty advisors from across Georgetown come together for impactful planning and design. Explore this year’s collaborations with our partners below for an in-depth look into our exciting initiatives.
Project 1: MásPorTIC
The MásPorTIC Foundation has been supporting rural entrepreneurship for nine years by empowering communities to scale their businesses and improve access to information and markets through technology and innovation. Their programs enable communities to identify local challenges and strengths, applying entrepreneurial skills and adopting or creating technology to address these issues. This approach enhances access to information, markets, and business opportunities. MásPorTIC focuses on three main goals: (1) increasing rural Colombia’s competitiveness through technology, (2) bridging the urban-rural divide by improving access to education, resources, and information, and (3) promoting sustainable development in rural areas by encouraging and facilitating innovative solutions.
Here are key actions we’re hoping to deliver:
We aim to deliver a robust framework and tools to enhance Fundación MásPorTIC’s impact measurement capabilities, aligning with their mission of empowering rural communities through technology and innovation. Key actions include developing a comprehensive organizational theory of change that integrates program-specific frameworks, providing clarity on how their activities achieve long-term goals. Additionally, we will design two measurement tools: one to track and evaluate indicators across the six stages of their transformation process, ensuring smooth progression and actionable insights and another for pre- and post-assessments to measure the impact of their initiatives. These deliverables will equip MásPorTIC with the tools to effectively monitor, evaluate and communicate their success.
Project 2: MAIA
SAP Salud, based in Bogotá, Colombia, facilitates specialized healthcare accessibility by acting as an intermediary between doctors and hospitals. Operating as a non-profit, they focus on connecting medical professionals with underserved rural areas. Through their innovative approach, SAP Salud addresses healthcare disparities by physically transporting doctors to locations where their expertise is needed, ensuring a more equitable distribution of specialized medical services. This initiative contributes to improved health outcomes in remote communities and aligns with their mission to enhance healthcare access for all, especially in regions facing geographical and resource challenges.
