About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the Evidence for Justice Lab is to create a more effective and fair approach to safety and justice through evidence and research. We accomplish this by engaging communities, collaborating with government partners and conducting applied research to pave the way for a more just future.

Our Approach

  1. Evidence – We rely on rigorous, data-driven analysis to inform decisions and drive meaningful, measurable outcomes. We incorporate both quantitative and qualitative methods to ensure that our research is rooted in real-world data and lived experience.
  2. Fairness – We use research as a lever to challenge systemic barriers and create opportunities for historically marginalized communities to have equal access to justice, resources and support.
  3. Voice – Voices – We center the voices of the communities most impacted by crime and the criminal justice system. We prioritize listening to those who are closest to the issue to ensure that the solutions we develop are grounded in their realities.
  4. Collaboration – We engage in collaborative partnerships with local communities, government agencies and other stakeholders to build sustainable, community-driven solutions that foster safer and more just environments.

Our Values

We lead with curiosity and creativity.

Curiosity – Pursuing knowledge and understanding by asking thoughtful questions, prioritizing exploration and seeking diverse perspectives to deepen insights.

Creativity – Igniting change by daring to innovate with new interventions and technology, challenging norms, and dreaming big to overcome social challenges.
