Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt and the MPP program because of the clear emphasis on students’ development of strong analytical skills. As someone who wants to work in federal policy, that quantitative focus combined with an unparalleled alumni network and a close proximity to Capitol Hill made me confident that McCourt would best prepare me for a career in public policy.

What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? I have spent the past four years working on both federal and state policy for business associations in Massachusetts. My work involved identifying policy strategies to ensure that Massachusetts remains a great place to live and do business.

What has been the best part of your experience so far? The best part about being a student at McCourt is being surrounded by such great classmates and professors. People have a variety of interests here but everyone is equally invested in their education and we all learn a lot from one another. The professors are also deliberate about fostering a collaborative environment and helping each of us succeed.

What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? During my time at McCourt I have had multiple opportunities to intern within the federal government. During my first year, I interned in Congress for the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and the House Committee on Appropriations. Now in my second year, I am currently interning for the Office of Management and Budget within the Biden-Harris Administration. The coursework at McCourt has been incredibly helpful during the interview process for these internships.
