Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt for its proximity to so many esteemed institutions and organizations, as well as its rich and diverse network. I also appreciated how it utilizes its location in DC to provide so many opportunities for students and alumni.
What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? My first job outside of college was as a census enumerator during the 2020 census, which strengthened my passion for public service. I was accepted for a research assistant position at Insight Policy Research (now Westat), which brought me to the DC area. Here, I utilized and sharpened both my hard and soft skills and assisted in projects for HHS, CMS and DOD, before taking a position at the International Development Division at the American Institutes for Research (AIR). At AIR, I worked with USAID to provide monthly reports and analysis of the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. My work analyzing data during all of these different positions ultimately convinced me to pursue the DSPP program at McCourt.
