Dual-degree student and inaugural Colin McCollester Mission Fund recipient will follow in the footsteps of the fund’s namesake

The fund, established in honor of the late McCourt student, expands international learning opportunities.

The inaugural stipend from the Colin McCollester Mission Fund has been awarded to Andrew Schlegel (MPP/MAGES’23), a dual-degree candidate in the McCourt School of Public Policy and the Walsh School of Foreign Service. The Fund, established by the family of Colin McCollester (G’14), who died on December 12, 2019, supports international internships, experiential learning, study abroad and other international learning experiences for McCourt School students.

Andrew will be studying at the Hertie School in Berlin, Germany, for the Fall 2021 academic semester, an exchange he believes “blends seamlessly with the MA/MPP dual degree” — an important consideration of his when choosing a location to study abroad.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with Colin during his time at Georgetown and McCourt. Andrew is an excellent, engaged student who represents so much of the legacy Colin has left, and we are excited that he will be studying at Hertie just like Colin did.
