Beryl Radin Wins Prestigious Political Science Award
GPPI Professor Beryl Radin wins the 2012 John Gaus Award and Lectureship from the American Political Science Association
Congratulations to adjunct professor Beryl A. Radin, who has received the John Gaus Award and Lectureship from the American Political Science Association.
The award “honors the recipient’s lifetime of exemplary scholarship in the joint tradition of political science and public administration and, more generally, recognizes and encourages scholarship in public administration,” according to the APSA website.
Radin, who joined GPPI last January, previously served as a scholar-in-residence in the Department of Public Administration and Policy at American University. She currently serves as a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration and is the editor of the book series on Public Management and Change at Georgetown University Press. Her government service included an assignment as a special advisor to the assistant secretary for management and budget of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
“She has made extraordinary contributions in several areas, most notably federalism, intergovernmental relations, and comparative public administration,” reads her award citation.
“Given her global impact on scholarship, partnerships with government agencies, and lifelong support for generations of students, few corners of public administration and political science are untouched by her influence.”
Radin, who taught policy analysis at GPPI last spring, will be officially presented with her award on Thursday, August 30th, and will deliver the APSA Annual Meeting lecture on Friday, August 31st.
