Why did you choose McCourt? The dual degree in Management and Public Policy between HEC Paris and Georgetown University is a unique opportunity to learn and combine two valuable skillsets. The McCourt School of Public Policy is a formidable institution to learn from experienced professionals and world-class academics about specific policy fields through the quantitative analysis lens. I was strongly motivated to develop some quantitative skills and to this end, the microeconomics and econometrics classes were a great opportunity to become quant savvy. The rigor and commitment to excellence from professors and students alike are highly motivating and create an exceptional environment to study with a steep learning curve.
What has been the best part of your experience so far? This is a tough nut to crack. It might be about the challenge every student accepts to take on during the first day of the program. Classes on both quantitative methods and policy analysis are complex and require a strong commitment to study but they are equally rewarding. It equipped my peers and myself with practical skills that I was able to immediately put into practice during my internship.
It might also be about the remarkable professors, the motivated students, and the lifelong friends I made along the way in lecture rooms, during office hours, in Old North (the School’s building), and more generally in DC.
What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? Equipped with my new quantitative analysis skills, I interned at the World Bank to conduct economic research on disaster risk management, supporting African countries to assess exposure to hazards. I also had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for Professor Adam Thomas on the Advanced Regression/Program Evaluation Methods course which (hopefully), increased the understanding of topics covered to everyone in the classroom, including myself!
Undergraduate University, degree, and major: King’s College London, BA in European Studies
Hobbies/ Interests: I grew up trying to keep my eyes and mind open to the different cultures I had the opportunity to have a glimpse of during my travels. I have a strong interest in literature and philosophy. Big fan of Oriental, Israeli, and Afrobeat tunes. When I was in Georgetown I was addicted to Down Dog Yoga (across the campus).
