Study Across Two Campuses

Students in the JPPP have the unique opportunity to live and study on two Georgetown campuses, spending their first two years immersed on the Hilltop, before completing the second half of the program on the Capitol Campus, just steps from the policy world. In this sense, public policy students will have the best of both worlds: a residential, small college experience and an urban university experience.

The Hilltop Campus

The joint degree program will enable students to make the most of their four years — splitting their time between the Hilltop and Georgetown’s new Capitol Campus. On the Hilltop campus, 

Students will be immersed in the history and heritage of the country’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution of higher learning. 

In 1789, John Carrolll, the founder of Georgetown University, purchased the first acre of land that would become our beautiful Hilltop campus. Since then, generations of Hoyas have been educated at 37th and O and called the Hilltop home. Housing the widest array of departments and programs at the university, the College of Arts & Sciences offers students the chance to explore their interests, passions, and callings as widely and deeply as possible. With more than 250 clubs and organizations, the main campus offers ample outlets for extracurricular activities and growth when class is not in session. 

First-year students live in one of five residential communities : Darnall Hall, Harbin Hall, New South, Copley Hall or Reynolds Hall. In students’ second year, 12 more residential communities are available through the housing selection portal. All residence halls and on-campus communities are within walking distance of one another, creating a tight-knit environment across campus. 

Steps away from the iconic M Street shopping corridor, the main campus offers a secluded, enriching environment with the excitement of a city just a few blocks away. During your two years on the main campus, students will fall in love with the historic Georgetown neighborhood and campus.

The Capitol Campus

As juniors, students will transition to the Capitol Campus to complete their final two years exclusively at the McCourt School’s new, state-of-the-art building downtown . 

The McCourt School will be a dynamic hub for the Capitol Campus – serving as a vibrant home for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and community members, welcoming a rotating series of guest speakers, community events, student group activities, research seminars and conferences. 

Students in the JPPP will also have the chance to take courses in other undergraduate programs on the Capitol Campus — whether at the newly launched Earth Commons Institute , through the Capitol Applied Learning Lab , School of Continuing Studies , or programs affiliated with the new School of Health and School of Nursing in the coming years. 

Students can live in an apartment-style residential community at the new, state-of-the-art dorm facility at 55 H Street N W or choose to live off-campus. This flexibility is unique to students enrolled on the Capitol Campus, allowing them to take full advantage of the downtown location. 

Starting in Fall 2025, students can access Georgetown’s downtown hub for student life at 111 Mass Avenue, with health and wellness services, library services, dining options, and many other academic and student life resources designed just for Capitol Campus students.
