Support for our International Students
Dear McCourt School Students:
The McCourt School of Public Policy community is greatly enriched by strong representation of students from around the world. Our diverse community of impatient change-makers is one of the most rewarding aspects of the McCourt School experience.
We are deeply disappointed by the recent guidance of the US Customs and Immigration Service that could have the effect of limiting the participation of international students in the educational programs of Georgetown and in other universities around the country. This will not only harm our international students, but will weaken America’s ability to work together with other nations to develop solutions to global policy problems at a time when collaborative problem solving has never been more important.
We remain deeply committed to our international students at the McCourt School. We are continuing to seek further clarification of the recently issued guidelines. Georgetown has already announced that it will resume operations with a hybrid approach enabling international students to take face-to-face courses in accordance with the new guidelines. We are committed to offering hybrid courses for all eligible international students. We will continue to advocate for those students who access our courses online from their own countries to protect their visa eligibility.
This is a rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to work toward solutions that will preserve our commitment to engaging a diverse international student body.
Best,
Dean Maria
