Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt for its rigorous curriculum and its strong focus on data-driven policy analysis. After one year here, I’ve found that McCourt not only delivers on this promise but also offers invaluable resources such as personalized career support, hands-on workshops, and access to a global alumni network. These elements have significantly shaped both my academic growth and professional development.

What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? Before joining McCourt, I conducted research on China’s rural revitalization and led a volunteer team to rural areas to study local agricultural practices. We completed research reports and a business plan with recommendations aimed at helping local farmers and industries increase their income. Later, I conducted empirical analysis on the outcomes of rural revitalization and developments in rural finance, producing comprehensive reports based on data from China’s central provinces. These experiences provided me with a solid foundation in research and analytical thinking, which now support my studies at McCourt. From then on, I became keen on finding ways to create real-world impact through my work.

What has been the best part of your experience so far? The best part of my McCourt experience has been immersing myself in a diverse and intellectually vibrant community. Over the past year, I’ve learned from professors who bring practical insights into the classroom and from peers whose backgrounds span different countries and policy areas. Beyond academics, I’ve built meaningful friendships and gained a support system that has made my first year abroad both fulfilling and transformative.
