Togzhan Zhumadil is a sophomore at Tufts University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Data Science. Her professional background includes consulting and engineering for public interest, directing data infrastructure for Engineers Without Borders in Malawi and tutoring incarcerated individuals as part of Tufts University Prison Initiative of Tisch College(TUPIT). Her research interests lie in implementing improved policy for emerging technologies, particularly about facial recognition in surveillance. Togzhan is dedicated to using data science to augment civic action and her current efforts include chairing the programming committee for the Tufts Women in Technology conference and developing an English tutoring website for the global Uighur population.
