Patricia Samman

Hometown: Cairo, Egypt

Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt because of its location in the heart of DC and the biggest developmental institutions available to us. The faculty at McCourt is impressive, teachers are intentional in wanting to help you and put you in the right places.

What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? I was working for three years at a philanthropic organization in Egypt where I got familiar with evidence based practices from a grantmaking organization perspective. I grew up volunteering and interning with NGOs and Community based organizations which made me eager to explore what are things that work or don’t.

What has been the best part of your experience so far? The MIDP cohort is a small group which really makes me feel like I belong to a community and am able to reach out to others for help. I also feel like teachers know you personally and truly try to help you as much as they can with opportunities and ideas of how you could be involved.

What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? Currently working as a Digital media GA for McCourt.
