Why did you choose McCourt?
I chose McCourt for many reasons, but the deciding factor was the people.
When I was applying, I narrowed my choice down to three rigorous programs. All of them offered strong academics, access to distinguished faculty, and serious quantitative training— those were non-negotiables for me in an MPP program. What ultimately set Georgetown apart were the experiences I had with every person I interacted with before enrolling.
I engaged with the ambassadors program and met four students and two professors before making my decision. My impression (since confirmed as a student) was that of a warm student community motivated to make the world a better place, and an energetic faculty committed to providing their students with the best guidance possible.
Finally, McCourt’s location at the center of the policy world, paired with Georgetown’s reputation and network, makes it an unparalleled institution for anyone with aspirations of working in DC.
What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? I worked for over 10 years in the film industry as an actor, writer, and producer.
What has been the best part of your experience so far? It’s hard to pick one! The vibrant community of students, the opportunity to take advantage of all that the city of DC has to offer— both personally and professionally— and the opportunity to enjoy a challenging learning environment are all highlights of the experience so far.
What work experience have you had so far during your time at McCourt? I have a part-time job at NET (Network on Emerging Threats).
