Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt because nothing beat the Hilltop (and now Capitol Campus) with respect to political proximity. Throughout my two years at McCourt, I’ve been able to meet and speak with public servants such as Representative Joyce Beatty and former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. I’ve also had the opportunity to hear from the figures such as Hillary Clinton and Boris Johnson.
What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? Before McCourt, I worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)—Australia’s version of the State Department.
What has been the best part of your experience so far? The community! Everyone is coming from somewhere different. I’ve met people who personally led youth movements in their home country, to veterans of the 2003 Gulf War looking to make a change. When you come to McCourt, the professors aren’t your only teachers—your peers are too.
What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? I had the opportunity to pursue a Summer internship with KPMG’s Advisory practice in New York.
Student organization involvement while at McCourt: I was involved with: Georgetown Public Policy Review (Treasurer); Black Perspectives on Public Policy (Outreach Chair); McCourt Student Association (Alumni and External Relations Chair)
Undergraduate University, degree, and major: New York University, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science; Minor in History
Hobbies/ Interests: Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, photography, and attempting to brush up on my Spanish while learning Mandarin Chinese (simplified for now).
