The McCourt School of Public Policy ranks highest among policy schools in the nation’s capital for the quality and quantity of research according to a new studypublished by professors at Columbia University and the University of Warwick.
This new ranking offers an alternative to U.S. News & World Report rankings, which bases results solely on an opinion survey.
In contrast, Columbia University professor Miguel Urquiola and University of Warwick assistant professor Elliott Ash developed a new approach to school rankings based on objective and measurable criteria and that reflect the quality and quantity of research by 4,927 faculty members affiliated with the top 44 public policy schools in the country.
The results show that McCourt ranks 7th overall, ahead of other peer institutions in the Washington D.C. area. McCourt also ranks 7th in output per faculty member and 8th for publications in economic journals.
These results have big implications for prospective students who care about research and are interested in studying public policy in the nation’s capital.
