This January McCourt School students got a jumpstart on their job and internship searches through Jumpstart January!, a two week series of career development workshops, alumni panels, and employer information sessions. McCourt Career & Alumni Services partnered with the School of Foreign Service Graduate Career Center to offer seventeen different events for students to take advantage of in the first two weeks of school.
The McCourt School welcomed three alumni back to campus – Joe Valenti of the Center for American Progress, Sarah Gerard of SRI International, and Rachel Burton of the Urban Institute – to participate in “Exploring Careers in Think Thanks and Research Organizations,” a panel discussion moderated by Cheryl Ramp, COO of the Stimson Center. The panelists discussed opportunities for students and alumni at their organizations and also the skills that students should develop to be competitive candidates.
“Exploring Careers in the European Union” featured Nicolae Stefanuta (MPM ’14) of the European Parliament External Affairs Directorate and his colleague Kirsten Jongberg of the European Parliament Liaison Office in DC. The discussion was moderated by Marta Kepe, a graduate student in the School of Foreign Service, and focused on opportunities for European students and non-European students.
In addition to alumni panels, McCourt and SFS welcomed the following employers to campus for information sessions: Asian Development Bank, Deloitte Consulting, Inter-American Development Bank, and Mathematica Policy Research.
