C-SPAN CEO, Georgetown Law alum to deliver McCourt School Commencement address
Sam Feist (L’99), a longtime political journalist and member of the GU Politics Advisory Board, will address the McCourt School of Public Policy’s Class of 2025.

CEO of C-SPAN Sam Feist (L’99) will address the McCourt School of Public Policy’s Class of 2025 on Thursday, May 15, at 6:00 p.m. on Georgetown’s Hilltop Campus. Feist’s remarks, titled “Calling a Cease-fire: Healing America’s Political Divide,” will explore the importance of bridging political divides and fostering civic dialogue.
Feist oversees all editorial and business operations at C-SPAN, bringing decades of experience in political journalism. Before joining C-SPAN, he spent more than 30 years at CNN, leading the network’s political coverage as Washington bureau chief and senior vice president. He was the founding executive producer of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and was responsible for CNN’s election night predictions.
Throughout his career, Feist produced interviews with world leaders including Barack Obama, Donald Trump, George W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev. His work has been recognized with five Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award for CNN’s 2008 campaign coverage.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University and Georgetown University Law Center, Feist is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Washington Economic Club and the Bar of the District of Columbia. He also serves on the boards of the National Press Club Journalism Institute, the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs and the Georgetown University Institute of Politics & Public Service.
