Dana Moffat

Hometown: Syracuse, NY

Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt for its blend of professionalism, quantitative rigor, strong reputation within the DC policy community, and supportive faculty and staff. I knew that at McCourt I would be both academically challenged and supported by a community deeply invested in my success.

What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? Before McCourt, I was working in Asset Management in Nashville, TN. I was on the Market Intelligence team and acted as an internal consultant to our business development teams. I learned that I liked doing research and working with data, but I wanted to do work that had a bigger impact.

What has been the best part of your experience so far? I’ve been hugely impressed with how supportive and helpful my professors have been. I came from a big state school in my undergrad, so I didn’t form close relationships with my professors. At McCourt, the professors go out of their way to get to know you and help connect you to their networks around DC.

What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? I’m currently interning at the Tax Policy Center. It’s a think tank which is part of both the Urban Institute and Brookings. I’ll be helping with communicating research on their website, assisting with their back-end data modeling, writing blog posts, and writing a report on a topic of interest.
