Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt for various reasons. First, McCourt provides excellent academic, and specifically, quantitative training. This distinguishes McCourt from other public policy programs because it allows us to develop hard quantitative skills that are extremely valuable in the job market. Secondly, McCourt offers various activities and student groups outside the classroom. In that sense, you have opportunities to join different organizations, attend conferences, and participate in numerous activities that enrich your overall experience. Lastly, living in DC is an advantage that complements perfectly what McCourt has to offer. DC offers opportunities that are not available in other places.

What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? Before joining McCourt, I worked for over 6 years in the private sector, back in Lima, Perú. I developed my entire career in Alicorp, Perú’s biggest consumer goods company. I started as an intern in the consulting department, focused on efficiency and new platform projects. Then, I moved to the B2B unit, where I started managing categories, to increase sales, volume, and profit for each category sustainably. After two years, I started overviewing the merger and acquisition of another company and then developing a new platform of products for the B2B unit. In my last 2 years, I was part of the innovation team of the consumer goods unit where we developed a start-up to accelerate the launch of new products.

What has been the best part of your experience so far? The best part of the experience so far has been meeting people from different places with so many different backgrounds. This enriches the entire experience, not only academically but also outside classes and in your personal life.

Student organization involvement while at McCourt: I am part of the Latin American and the Caribbean Policy Association (LAPA)

Undergraduate University, degree, and major: Universidad de Lima, B.S. Industrial Engineering

Hobbies/ Interests: I am a huge sports fan, especially soccer, and lately I have been watching a lot of NBA. I also love to read, watch good movies, cook, and travel.
