Title: Call for Applications: Fall 2021 MDI Scholars

The Program provides motivated undergraduate and Master’s students across disciplines at Georgetown with the opportunity to engage in scholarly research taking place at MDI. MDI Scholars will work with different researchers to help them advance our knowledge in a number of domains, including forced migration, women’s movements, US elections, gun violence, civic engagement, education, data ethics, data privacy, housing policy, etc. Coursework and/or previous research experience in computer science, data science, statistics, public policy and/or computational linguistics is preferred, but we encourage all majors interested in large-scale data analysis and its implications in society to apply.

MDI Scholars are expected to work approximately 10 hours per week and will be paid hourly. MDI Scholars will not only gain valuable research skills, but they will also engage in research that will help shape future public policy. The research conducted by MDI Scholars is presented at the MDI Research Showcase at the end of the term.

All applications should be submitted online using this MDI Scholars Application Form. Applicants will answer a series of questions about their data science and research background as well as submit a cover letter and resume.
