Why Policy Management?
A Master of Policy Management (MPM) degree equips students with essential management and analytical skills that allow them to meet policy and management challenges as they advance further in their careers. The Master of Policy Management delivers a balanced curriculum that trains students in both managerial skills and subject matter policy expertise.
The 12-class Master of Policy Management is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of full- or part-time students. Full-time students take three or four classes (mostly during the day) during fall and spring semester. Classes meet once a week. Then students participate in four week-long intensive classes during the summer. Full-time students can complete the program in one year. The Master of Policy Management also accommodates working students who can take one or two classes part time in the evenings and then take one or two intensive week-long summer courses during their vacations. Part-time students can finish the degrees in two years.
Elite Student Body and Small Classes
The Master of Policy Management is designed for select students with experience in the policy world who wish to advance into management or hone their management skills. Unlike other degrees, students who enter the Master of Policy Management must have at least five-years of work experience before beginning their degrees. This enables our classes to focus on higher-level learning than one finds in most public policy and public administration degrees.
The Master of Policy Management has an average class size of 15 students. This enables our students, not only to have high quality and quantity interaction with the faculty, but also to learn from each other in an intimate and engaging environment. Students in our program come from government agencies, non-profits, business, the military, and international organizations that collectively create a dynamic learning environment comprised of the world’s most promising up and coming professionals.
Five of the 12 classes in the Master of Policy Management are electives. Students can choose from over 60 electives in more than 10 subject areas. These electives allow students to tailor the curriculum to best meet their professional goals.
Practical and Applied Degree
The Master of Policy Management is a practical and applied degree that is designed to teach students the skills and knowledge they need on the job. Student assignments are based on real-life work deliverables and all students take a required Capstone class in which they engage a real policy problem and propose a working solution.
