One of the best ways to feel at home at McCourt is to get involved. With more than 20 student-led organizations focused on public policy and over 200 clubs and activities across Georgetown, you’ll find no shortage of ways to connect with peers who share your interests.

Your McCourt experience extends far beyond the classroom. Our student-run clubs and organizations offer opportunities to deepen your expertise, explore new interests and build lasting connections with fellow graduate students.
Community engagement
McCourt students directly engage the wider community through student-led organizations and McCourt-hosted initiatives. Organizations like Policy in Practice offer hands-on service and outreach opportunities, while programs like the Policy Innovation Lab and Public Policy Challenge bring students together around real-world policy problems. Students also host panels, guest speakers and symposia throughout the year.
Policy Innovation Lab
The Policy Innovation Lab draws on the combined talents of students, faculty, researchers and community leaders to confront the most pressing policy challenges in the DC area and develop real solutions.
Public Policy Challenge
In the Public Policy Challenge, graduate students are tasked with developing policy solutions for issues affecting the Washington, DC community.
Research opportunities
McCourt students can engage with research across the school’s affiliated centers and the broader Georgetown community, including seminars, workshops and events featuring leading scholars and practitioners shaping politics and policy today.
Discover additional ways to get involved in policy research
Research Assistants support tenure-line faculty in their research for approximately 10 hours per week. Research Assistant positions are usually advertised at the beginning of academic semesters via email.
McCourt’s affiliated centers are engaged in research, professional training and the sharing of information on Congress, health policy, international development and social policy.
The McCourt School and Georgetown communities offer rich and engaging intellectual opportunities for students and faculty. The McCourt community can take advantage of a wide-variety of seminar series offered across campus.
Co-sponsored by McCourt, students at the APPAM Regional Student Conference present research across a wide variety of policy areas on conference panels with their peers.
In order to advance justice and the common good, CSJ promotes and integrates community-based research, teaching and service by collaborating with diverse partners and communities.
The Beeck Center provides a training ground for students, equipping future global leaders with the tools to flip prevailing orthodoxies about how and what the world should be.
