Opened in 2024 on Georgetown’s Capitol Campus, our state-of-the-art facility is steps from where policy is made — and serves as a front door to the political, policy and local DC communities that shape our work and deepen our impact for the common good.
Under one roof
For the first time since the school’s founding in 2013, our home at 125 E Street brings the entire McCourt community — students, faculty, researchers, and staff — under one roof. That proximity accelerates collaboration and deepens our impact, while our location near the center of policymaking gives faculty and researchers greater access to decision-makers and puts students closer to competitive career and experiential learning opportunities.

Signature event spaces
Our state-of-the-art building features a 400-seat auditorium, flexible event and classroom spaces, and the Capitol View Convening Space — a ninth-floor rooftop terrace and banquet hall overlooking the US Capitol and the downtown DC skyline.
Main Commons
The second-floor Main Commons gives students, faculty, and staff a comfortable place to work, gather and connect outside the classroom. An on-site café serves coffee, pastries and ready-made meals throughout the day, and in the evenings the space transforms into a welcoming venue for receptions and events.

Do McCourt School students take classes on two different campuses?
Graduate courses at the McCourt School are taught exclusively at 125 E on Georgetown’s Capitol Campus. Students have the opportunity to take elective courses at either Georgetown’s Hilltop campus or at nearby Capitol Campus-based programs. Georgetown Law and the School of Continuing Studies also call Capitol Campus home. For students interested in opportunities offered at another of Georgetown’s schools, like the School of Foreign Service or the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown operates a free shuttle between both campuses. What is the student experience like on the Capitol Campus?
Georgetown’s Capitol Campus expands Georgetown’s downtown Washington, DC footprint that was established by the Georgetown University Law Center in the 1980s. McCourt’s 125 E St. building sits nestled next to many of Georgetown Law’s buildings, with McCourt and Georgetown Law’s research centers sharing space in the building just next door. 111 Mass Ave., just two blocks north of the McCourt School, is a multi-use educational facility providing student services, academic resources and health, wellness and safety services for all Georgetown and McCourt students.
McCourt School students should expect access to a robust educational experience commensurate with that of the Hilltop with a building and location dedicated to advancing work in public policy. From dedicated study spaces and an in-house cafe to state-of-the-art event spaces and multiple rooftop terraces, the McCourt School offers amenities that go beyond the classroom.
What transportation options are available to students?
The McCourt School of Public Policy is located near Union Station and Capitol Hill at 125 E St. NW, Washington, DC 20001. For members of the Georgetown community, Georgetown operates a free shuttle bus that runs between the Hilltop campus and the Capitol Campus. McCourt and the Capitol Campus are otherwise easily accessible via public transportation.
Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS)
GUTS is a free shuttle bus for students, faculty and staff of Georgetown University that operates eight routes connecting the Hilltop campus to the greater Washington, DC area. On weekdays from 6:30 am to 10:15 pm, GUTS operates the Capitol Campus route connecting the Hilltop campus to 111 Mass Ave. (downtown student services), the Law Center/McCourt School and 55 H. St NW (student residences).
Public Transportation
The McCourt School of Public Policy is located near Union Station, home to both Amtrak, regional rail and a Metro (the subway system of the Washington, DC area) station. At the intersections of New Jersey Ave & F St. NW, 4th & D St. NW and 5th & F St. NW are Capitol Bikeshare docks if you prefer either manual or electric pedal bikes. McCourt’s location in downtown Washington, DC makes commuting to and from quite convenient, whether you’re visiting from out of town, nearby in the DMV area or somewhere within the city.
What residential housing is available to students on Capitol Campus?
55 H St. NW, which opened in 2022, is the first state-of-the-art residence hall located on Georgetown’s Capitol Campus. This apartment-style residential community houses undergraduate and graduate students and features a local fitness center, courtyards with patios and grills, community study spaces and bike storage rooms.
What food options are available at McCourt and Capitol Campus?
McCourt’s 125 E St. building features an in-house cafe that serves coffee and a variety of grab-and-go options. Georgetown Law has a variety of on-campus dining options, including Legal Eats, a self-checkout convenience store, Whisk Coffee & Bake Shop and The Local, a sit-down dining option that also provides grab-and-go options. Georgetown’s 111 Mass Ave., just a few blocks north of McCourt, will additionally provide dining options shortly.

What security measures does McCourt’s building feature?
The safety of our community is our top priority. All three entrances to 125 E St. NW will be staffed by the McCourt School and the Georgetown University Policy Department (GUPD). Only Georgetown University ID holders will be able to enter buildings throughout the Capitol Campus freely. We are actively working with GUPD to schedule shuttles and/or escorts in the evening from the new building to nearby metro stations.
