Hometown: Richardson, TX
Current City: Washington, DC
Why did you choose McCourt? The specificity of my program, Data Science for Public Policy, is an emerging field that I was extremely interested in (yay civic tech!) and I chose McCourt because it not only offered this unique pairing of fields but had a manageable cohort size and super engaging program directors. Plus DC is such a neat city, even during COVID.
What was the best part of your experience? Truthfully, I've really loved my courses themselves and what I am getting to learn. Before McCourt, I lived and worked in Chicago where I got involved with the civic tech scene and community organizing. Being able to spend time specifically learning skills that will help me be more effective in these areas is really enjoyable.
Student organization involvement while at McCourt: Georgetown Public Policy Review, McCourt Student Association, Georgetown Technology Policy Initiative, WiPPi, McCourt Energy & Environment (E&E)
Undergraduate University, degree, and major: Texas A&M University, Electrical Engineering
Hobbies / Interests: When I'm not tirelessly working on problem sets I like to run (I completed my first ultramarathon in February!), hike, and try new recipes. I also enjoy making overly specific-themed playlists on Spotify.
