Current position and employer: Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration at Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
Hometown: Rochester, NY
Current City: Annandale, VA
Why did you choose McCourt? I completed Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Georgetown with the Hoya Battalion. My Mom and Dad graduated from Georgetown. I loved the community and the commitment to Service. I was lucky that McCourt had an established relationship with the U.S. Army who offered to send me to graduate school fully-funded. When I was accepted, I felt like I won the lottery!
What was the best part of your experience? The faculty and students. It's the people at Georgetown that make it a great place.
What internships did you have during your time at McCourt? I did not complete any internships while at GPPI/McCourt, but I developed my thesis with the Army’s Directorate of Military Personnel Management where I reviewed junior officer retention in the United States Army.
Student organization involvement while at McCourt: While at Georgetown both from 1989-1992 and 2006-2007, I was actively involved in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. I am currently a member of the Hoya Battalion Alumni Association where I mentor cadets pursuing undergraduate degrees from Georgetown and a commission in the United States Army.
Undergraduate university, degree, and major: American University, Literature & Secondary Education
Hobbies/ Interests: I retired from the Army in 2019 after serving 27 years on active duty and have been busy serving at U.S Department of Health and Human Services. I’ve been fortunate to contribute to both Operation Artemis, an inter-agency effort to process unaccompanied children from the SW border of the United States, and Operation Allies Welcome, a coordinated effort across the federal government to support and resettle vulnerable Afghans. I enjoy yoga and spending time with my family --- we love to hike, camp, and take walks with our crazy Jack Russell Terrier pup.
