MDI/ISIM Postdoctoral Fellow
Liz Jacobs is a Postdoctoral Fellow with ISIM and the Massive Data Institute. She is part of the Forced Migration team, working on an interdisciplinary project to develop methods and approaches for using big data in conjunction with traditional administrative and survey data to understand and forecast mass movement of people forced to migrate.
Liz’s ongoing research spans the areas of migration, globalization, and immigrant incorporation and centers on the global flows of people, knowledge, and culture. Her work considers how state, corporate, and academic institutions enable and constrain global mobility. She draws on new datasets of migration histories and social media data, combined with in-depth interviews, to study the demographic flow and labor market incorporation of skilled migrants in the United States.
Liz holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Sociology from Columbia University and a BA in Anthropology from Penn.
