Why did you choose McCourt? I was selected to study public policy at McCourt as part of the US Army Joint Chief of Staff Internship. As a public sector member, it is essential to understand political processes and how policy is shaped in a complex and fast-changing policy world. McCourt is a dynamic learning environment that sharpens my leadership and problem-solving skills.
What professional/ work experience did you have prior to coming to McCourt? Before coming to McCourt, I worked formally for the US Army. Still, I was very active in community organizing efforts centered around assisting transitioning and homeless veterans and their families.
What has been the best part of your experience so far? The best part of my experience so far has been the family of friends I have cultivated in such a short amount of time. The expert experience that the faculty and staff hold doesn't overshadow their warm and welcoming spirits. I have felt heard and appreciated since the day I was accepted to Georgetown. Finally, I have thoroughly enjoyed attending courses that are tailored to my specific policy interests.
What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? I have not completed any internships at McCourt; however, I will begin a two-year internship working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Army Staff immediately following graduation.
Undergraduate University, degree, and major: I attended Augusta State University (formally, Georgia Regents University) in Augusta, Georgia. I studied Criminal Justice/Pre-Law and Military Science.
Hobbies/ Interests: Travelling, practicing yoga, solving puzzles, journaling and gardening are a few of my favorite things! I cannot forget self-care. Taking care of oneself, mentally, spiritually, and physically, is the first step in serving others.
