Why did you choose McCourt? I chose McCourt because the curriculum and course offerings aligned well with my interests and professional aspirations in environmental policy. As a dual degree student (JD/MPP), I was intrigued by the opportunity to develop a strong quantitative base at McCourt to supplement my education at the Law Center. I entered the program expecting it to be rigorous and while the courses are indeed challenging, the professors are incredibly supportive and want students to be successful.
What has been the best part of your experience so far? While my experience has been virtual thus far, the McCourt staff and professors have made every effort to ensure students feel connected and have access to all of the opportunities that first year students normally do. The best part of my experience so far has been learning from the fantastic speakers that Georgetown hosts, from elected officials to political strategists to private sector professionals.
What internships have you had so far during your time at McCourt? I interned with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture this past summer in their Economic Research Service; I worked on updating a series of macroeconomic baseline variables that are used in a variety of projects involving domestic and international trade in agricultural commodities.
Student organization involvement while at McCourt? McCourt Energy and Environment Policy Group
Undergraduate University, degree, and major: University of North Carolina Wilmington, Environmental & International Studies
Hobbies / Interests: I've been a competitive horseback rider for almost 17 years, which I continue to enjoy when time allows. Living in DC, I love finding local hiking trails, trying new restaurants, and visiting farmers' markets on the weekend.
