This course is designed for all individuals interested in improving their leadership and management of diversity in the workplace.
In today’s interconnected and global environment, diversity is critical to the success of all organizations – public, private, and non-profit. Diversity encompasses multiple differences to include differences in generations, perspectives, cultures, and decision making approaches. Managing and leading all aspects of diversity is an essential skill for today’s leaders and for the health and effectiveness of their organizations.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify and leverage the broad range of diversity in their workplaces.
Synthesize diverse approaches and opinions to improve their organization’s health.
Tap the value of diversity to improve organizational effectiveness.
Exhibit the leadership characteristics that foster an inclusive workplace.
Dr. Gerry Gingrich has been an adjunct professor in the McCourt School of Public Policy for 20 years, and a full-time professor at the National Defense University for 25 years. She is an expert in strategic leadership and decision making, organizational innovation and diversity, and technological and behavioral change. For the last several years, she has directed the National Defense University’s flagship executive program in leadership, information technology, and cyber operations. Prior to her tenure at the National Defense University and the McCourt School, she founded the first executive program in the United States in the management of information systems at The George Washington University. Prior to entering the teaching profession, Dr. Gingrich was a Fortune 500 lending officer for NationsBank and a Certified Public Accountant for KPMG. Dr. Gingrich has earned executive degrees in foreign policy and information systems; a PhD and MS in organizational psychology; and a BS in business and finance.
